Win 2k Server Licencing Problem

Jim H

I'm trying to setup Terminal Services on a Win 2K Server
in Application Mode and run the License Server on the
same box.

I can not get the License Server to load and show the
server so that I can activate it and finish the setup.

I am able to go into the Terminal Services and set it up
completely, including making the diskettes for the client
computer configuration etc... But for the life of me,
the server will not show up in the Right Pane of the
licenseing window to allow activation. Consequently, I
can not enter the CAL's information either.

I deleted the LS folder and unselected TS and TS License
Server and tried to start over again, but that didn't get
me any farther either...

I went to a friend and setup TS and TS Licensing and the
server showed up immediately allowing activation.

Please Help!!! What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Thank you, I looked at those articles. I'm beginning to
think that because I'm running Win 2000 Server that I need
to install the licencing server on the the Main Server.

I found out last night that If I was running Win 2003 it
could be on the same box, but since I'm not that "may" be
the problem. Do you or anyone else have experience with
that being the problem?

I have a Windows 2000 Server running as a member server TS in app mode,
licensing server on same with the reg hack. It resides on an NT 4 Domain
with an NT 4 server as domain controller. No problems after the reg hack.

Yes, a W2K member server *in a NT 4.0 domain* can connect to a LS
on a W2K member server, since there is no W2K DC in a NT 4.0
domain.

A W2K TS in a W2K domain *must* have the TS Licensing Server
installed on a Domain Controller. If your "Main Server" is your
Domain Controller, that's where the LS must be running.
