Win 2000 w/s dropping network connect

I have a Windows 2000 workstation with three user
profiles. I have a server using the Server 2003 O/S. The
Windows 2000 machine keeps dropping the mapped drives and
network connections even though we have checked the NIC
card and set the Server so that it won't time out on idle
connections. Any ideas? Thank you.

I'm wondering what NIC you're running and what your
network hardware is (the switch or hub). I recently had a
problem with this in my W2K domain and it turned out to be
a problem with the NIC. In my case it happened when we
replaced a hub with a switch.

Does your Workstation still see the server (via Network Browser or "ping"
from a command prompt?

If this is a Windows 2000 machine, it should indicate when you're physically
disconnected from the network (whether due to a faulty NIC, bad connection
or cut cable). I always display the "Network Connection" icon in my System
Tray so I can tell if I'm physically disconnected form the network.

If you're not physically losing connection to the server, then it's most
likely due to some software settings problem/glitch.

Try to use a login script to map your drives at logon.

It shows that I am losing all network connections--the
icon in the systray--doesn't blink like it is still
connected to the network and also I can't connect to
anything over on the server.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help.
