win 2000 server spoolsv.exe problems

Our 2000 printer server keeps getting a spoolsv.exe error
and all the network printer disappear. You have to
maunally restart the print spooler service and the network
printers reappear. We are currently running with service
pack 4. any ideas on what will fix this annoying problem
of the print spooler service shutting down?
