WIN 2000 Professional STOP Message

Sorry I couldn't find an area that addresses this specific OS, so thought
someone here might be able to help. Also, I searched the Knowledge Base, but
couldn't find anything there that specifically addresses my situation.
Anyway, it's a DELL Latitude C840 2.0GHz P-4 w/512mb. I bought it used and
have been using it for about 8 months now. I have done nothing to it, as far
as hardware goes and the only software added is Zone Alarm Pro firewall,
(can't recall the name) Antivirus, SpyBot & the software program I use to
enter and transmit data for my business. This software was privately
developed & I'm fairly certain its name would serve no purpose for this. All
of this software has been on the unit for the entire 8 months.
Last night I started the transmission of data and went to dinner & relax. A
couple of hours later, I went to close the program and shut down & was met
with the BSOD
***STOP: 0x0000007B (0x82077CF0,0xC0000032,0x00000000,0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

The unit will not boot beyond this point. I have made repeated attemps
without success, including Safe Mode and every other option located on that
screen.

If it helps, the unit displays the DELL BIOS screen, then offers the OS boot
choice:
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 2000 Professional
(For the record, it came this way & I have not seen where the HDD was ever
partitioned)
Hit enter or let it time out and it displays Starting Windows, then jumps to
the Windows 2000 Professional "welcome" starting screen. The little blue
caterpillar gets about 2/3 of the way across & BSOD. As indicated, this
happened originally from being up and running for hours, not a restart & no
software or hardware or configuration changes of any kind had been made.

I have no recovery of any disks of any kind with the unit. I can provide
the Windows sticker information if needed.

Can someone please help! I use this thing to make a meager living & it will
bring my business to its knees in short order.

Thanks in advance!!

If the transmission program you use is on autostart then you
should prevent it from starting. You can do this while in
Recovery Console mode. An easy way would be to rename
all executables in its home folder. To get into Command
Console mode, boot the machine with a Win2000/XP CD,
select Repair, then Recovery Console.

If this fails to work then I would attempt a repair installation:
Boot the machine with a Win2000 CD (ask a friend for a
copy if you can't find yours), then select Repair when prompted.

FYI: The correct newsgroup is win2000.general. In your case it
doees not matter because the problem and the cures are pretty
much the same in the two OSs.

Let me get this straight. You have 2(two) Instances of Windows 2000 Professional show for you as a Boot choice?

Yes there are 2 identical choices. I never tried the 2nd one until this
happened. It wont boot from there, but doesn't give the BSOD. There is a
DOS message but I can't recall what it says. Let me know if you think it's
helpful & I'll boot the thing & copy the message.
