win 2000 pro update problems

Greetings, I am trying to update my Dell Latitude P2
laptop that was purchased from a auction recently. It was
part of a network system and it will not allow me to
update win 2000. I have tried everything I know short of
changing the hard drive and going to XP. Will someone
please help me I don't have money to buy another laptop
and it is critical for my employment.
