Win 2000 Pro network cards

I have a Win 2000 server domain network. One of the clients is a Win 2000
Pro machine. I want to configure it with two network cards, one for an
internal connection and one to a router to an internet connection to act as a
pcAnywhere host for a remote computer. The two network cards clash, but I'm
not sure why. I know Win 2000 assigns both cards IRQ 9 and then manages them
internally. The internal IP range is 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.230, with the
server's DHCP assigning the client its IP number. On the other I've assigned
IP # 10.0.0.233 to the network card and 10.0.0.232 to the router. Both
connections work fine separately, but they clash if both are plugged in.

What am I missing?

Is there a tech paper on how this can be done? Or, can some one give me a
quick summary on how to do this?

Thanks in advance

Putting the two NICs into two different subnets works!!

However, how does the computer know which card to use. It seems as it will
always try both and use whichever works.

Simple really, it replies to the subnet from which it received the
transmision. The problem with seperate paths on the same subnet, is
exactly that, it can't tell which NIC to use.
