Win 2000 Backup not working in XP

I made a backup of my files in Windows 2000, and now I need to retrieve some
of those files into my new OS Win XP Home edition. I installed the backup
software on XP, but that software doesn't seem to show any of the files
inside my backup.

When I was running Win 2000, I often retrieved files from that same backup
file. But now that I am running Windows XP, the backup I created in XP does
not work anymore. My guess is that Win XP does not have backward
compatability with Win 2000 backup files. Please help me with this, I have
some very important files I need access to. Thank you!

Yes I did. None of the files show up when I click on the Restore button.

It usually means one of two:
1. You do not have full rights to the file. Take ownership of the file and
give yourself full rights
2. Corrupted backup.
