Win 16 Subsystem

Scott

I am trying to run an old FoxPro application and when I do
the program locks up at startup and it gives me an error
stating that the Win 16 Subsystem may be unstable. What
does this mean and how do I fix it. The program has worked
in the past??

TIA

Scott

It looks like your "old" application does work well with Windows 2000.
Try this:
1. Start > Run > regsvr32 slayerui.dll
2. Right-click on the executable for your application and click Properties
3. Click on the Compatibility tab, and choose to run the app in Windows 95
Compatibility Layer

Early, Windows 3.X versions of FoxPro has a runtime error
problem when used with high-speed CPU's, possibly beyond
200 MHz. There are a series of patches that had existed
and these need to be installed, if not already done so. But
the ultimate solution would be to upgrade to at least Visual
FoxPro 5.0.

I tried doing that but that dll does not exsist on the
computer?

I am sorry, let me alter the steps I outlined before.....

1. Ensure that you have Service Pack 4 installed
2. Start > Run > regsvr32 c:\WINNT\AppPatch\slayerui.dll
3. Right-click on the executable and click Properties
4. Click on the Compatibility tab, and choose to run the app in Windows 95
Compatibility Layer
