Will Vista driver work on XP Pro

Hi, somebode bought a HP printer and with it was a driver for Win Vista but
not XP. She does have XP on her pc.Is Vista drivers backward compatible to
work on XP?

No. Get the XP driver from HP, not from anywhere else - unless XP already
has the driver.

Alternately, return the printer for one that is supported by XP.

No. Tell "somebode" to get to the HP web site and download the correct
XP driver for her printer.

She will probably find it there, but if there is no such driver, she
should return the printer and get one supported by XP instead.

Not necessarily. Probly not a good idea to install a driver on XP
that is intended for Vista. Best to use the built-in printer driver
supplied with XP, or perhaps better yet download the HP driver and use
that. It should be a small file.
