will not boot into windows xp

burt

have tried to boot windows xp , my system has crashed twice in two weeks and
i reformatted , to get it working , but i think there may be a problem with
the installation disc, i have read some of the posts in another section and
tried to start in the recovery consul get to bootcfg and go to /p but it does
not recognise the prompt , tired this on a few others and i get the same
answer /scan , /repair . and so on it keeps telling me that it does not
recoginse the command prompt so i can not go any further with it .

i have also ran a hard drive test from maxtor tools that checks the hard
drive for errors and it repairs them it found one and repaired it .

if any one can help i woud be greatful and thank you in advance
burt
