Will Counter Strike work with windows XP?

Can anyone tell me if the game Counter Strike will work
with Windows XP. The system requirements for the game
tell me that it works with Windows 95/98. So does this
mean that it will also work with Windows XP? I have tried
other games that require 95/98 with XP and they havent
worked. Will Counter Strike work or not? I wanted to know
before i bought the game.
