WildTangent

I run AdAware Se, CW Shreeder, Spybot, Spyware Blaster.
In Spybot it shows Wild Tangent. I have it installed on
my computer because it came that way from factory. I do
NOT use any online games at all. How do I get rid off all
of it? Should I just rund Spybot and then put a check
next to it and will it delete all of the WildTangent and
things from my hard drive including from the registry. I
also come up with a DSL in spybot but I thought that was
part of the windows program. Any halp I need as these are
the only things on my computer.
Thanks alot,

Allan

I do not use it and contacted my HP support and they said
as long as I have SP2 installed and SP26333 that there is
no reason to uninstal it. <<<<<<

Of course they told you that. Wildtangent, after all, paid HP to bundle that
crap with your computer. Personally, I would wipe the HD clean and install a
proper XP on it. In fact, that's exactly what I did with my HP and it runs
MUCH better now.

You don't use it, but it is installed. Can you uninstall it?

You can uninstall it from Control Panel Add or Remove Programs. This is
the preferred way to remove it.

If you're brave...

go into your registry....

turn off the self restore feature temporarily

do a find for wild and delete all entries

do a find for wt and delete entries that look like they relate to wild
tangent

Then, delete all directores for wild tangent via windows explorer

turn on self restore

If you dn't know what you're doing, playing with the registry messes
up your system, but it is great to learn how to do these things
manually. This is part of what an unistaller program does.
