Finally feel a little safe

I have on my Hp XPSP2, Ad-Aware SE, Spyware Blaster, CW
Schredder, and Spybot Search and Destroy. I also have
Norton Antiviru with worm detection in it. Have my
automaic updates on and firewall up. The only thing found
by any of these is a tracking cookie on Ad-Aware. I would
not have know about all of this without this newsgroup
and what to look for and what to do. Just want to say
thank you all for all you wonderful help in guiding me in
the next direction.

Even MSN uses tracking cookies. This is not necessarily bad. I guess it would
depend on whose cookie it was. I used to use zone alarm blocks too much I
could not even log onto passport msn sites. I think a good router is more
dependable than software.

Add spywareguard to your arsenal. Same place as spywareblaster and free.

I've had problems with Spywaregaurd failing to initialize randomly on
some XP boxes and we've elected to not use it. Also, I've noticed if you
have an earlier version and do an upgrade to the current version it does
not remove the previous version so you wind up with both running in
Notification Area but only one showing in Task Mangler. PITA to
uninstall, too. Even uninstalling using Administrator (proper) it
remains for other users. Poorly coded software IMO. Of course, YMMV.
