Wife's Gateway laptop - weird happenings..and a recap of numerousVista issues

David

Last night my wife complained that a dialog box popped up 3 times while
she was surfing the net, regarding the power settings. It seems that
every day is a new adventure as a Vista user. I'm losing count of all
the anomalies that have occurred with our 2 laptops the past few months.

Windows notifications that won't go away in the 7 seconds they are
supposed to (only my laptop had that issue at first--now hers has the
same issue),

indexing doesnt return all files it should,

my laptop's keyboard repeat rate is very fast and won't adjust.

sometimes resume from hibernation results in shutdown, sometimes it
works ok.

Her laptop won't work with a 2GB SD card (dunno if that's a gateway
issue or software).

No info screen when hibernating as in XP, and I could have sworn that
the first time or two, when my laptop was brand new, that I did see the
info screen a few times.

Vista doesn't drop deleted virus programs from it's list of installed
programs in the Security Center.

Tomorrow is another day--wonder what it holds for our Vista experience?
Wish I could say "never a dull moment" with Vista, but it's way more
frustrating than exciting. dammit, Bill get those boys to fix some of
this stuff, eh????

oh, almost forgot, adjusting the blinking cursor's width doesn't work in
any program but Word, as far as I can tell. It's supposed to be a global
setting in Vista.

"Shared by Me" searches are useless, with or without the index enabled,
on both laptops. and it's NOT a question of ownership. It seems that
search feature just refuses to work on either machine despite trying a
variety of suggestions.

Please list your unsolved issues with Vista.

My issue is that a 9 year old laser printer will not work under Vista.

That's it!

Bill's not there anymore. This guy is running the show:

Can you imagine trying to tell him something he doesn't want to hear,
like "Vista's got serious problems"?

He throws office chairs when he gets mad...

What version of Vegas and what are you experiencing? The only odd
thing I see once in awhile is just randomly it pops a warning about
the help being inaccessible... even when I don't click on help.
Doesn't hurt anything, just weird.

I'm currently running version 5, the new Vegas 8 should be out later
this month, hopefully some worthwhile new features, the last two
editions, V6 and V7 haven't been any interest for me in what was
added.

I am running version 7.0e. Vegas kept crashing so I thought I'd remove it
and put it on the XP box. I just read that Vegas 8 is coming out so
depending on the price of the upgrade, I'll get it and install it on Vista.
Hope it's not that expensive because I just purchase Vegas about a month
ago.

Check on their site and see if there is some email notification you
can subscribe to if you haven't already. Usually they will send you an
email and tell you about some special promotion when new versions come
out. The usual upgrade is around $200 but you're close to the 30 day
period where you MAY get a free upgrade.

Their practice lately seems to have been alternating improvements
first one year most of the improvements are on the video side, then
the next release seems to focus more on the audio side of things.
