Wierd Issues with Network

I have had a direct lan network set up between my laptop and home computer for months so whenever i come home i can just plug the laptop in and update it, look at the internet etc.
I have tried this morning and it doesnt work. IE comes up with the 'page not found' error and i cannot ping the home computer or the laptop. The laptop says 'dest host unreachable' and the home computer says 'request timed out'.
I can however use netsend to send a message and can use 'my network places' to browse the shared files on either computer.

Also if i run ipconfig on the home computer it comes up with the following information ive never seen it mention before (other than the ethernet and ppp info):

Well its only been posted an hour.
Bit more research on the internet seems to suggest the 'tunnel adaptor' thing seems to be part of the advanced networking addon for xp (which i expect my brother decided to install for some strange reason).
Other than that no joy at present.
