Why was my posting ignored?

Two days ago I posted here a message entitled "Outlook 2007 Beta 2 search
returns unknown error". There have been zero responses.

The last line in the posting was "Is this the right forum to ask in, or is
there an Outlook 2007 newsgroup I should be using?"

Now, it may be simply that no one knows what the cause of the issue is.

But I'd still like to know: am I posting incorrectly? Is this the right
forum to ask in, or is there another newsgroup I should be using?

Microsoft has released a new version of WDS 3.0 search. Anyone having problems with searching in Outlook 2007 on Windows XP or Windows 2003 should try it. Get it at: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917013

I note there are versions for both Windows 2003 and XP. Is there any value
to Outlook/Exchange users to install the 2003 version on Exchange servers?

FWIW, the upgrade solved the problem, and I'm impressed with the
functionality! Thanks!

I'd still like to know about server-side value, though.

Not that I know of.

Sue, I've very impressed with the new search tool.

However, there's one significant issue with it in Outlook: it doesn't seem
to understand the concept of subfolders and folder hierarchy. (That seems
to be the case with a lot of Outlook and Exchange -- wierd.)

I can choose to search either all of Outlook, or the current folder only.
That's it. There's no way to say "this folder and those below it". I
don't know of any other part of Windows with that rather silly limitation.

How can I provide feedback to the appropriate people?

I don't know of any feedback channel to the WDS team. To get feedback to the Office team, get the Send a Smile tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A2E1F4E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274. This tool will transmit your comments and a screenshot back to Microsoft. As Jensen Harris explains at http://blogs.msdn.com/jensenh/archive/2006/06/23/644160.aspx, all SaS comments do get read and routed to the right people at Microsoft.

One solution for your scenario is to aggregate the desiried folders with an Outlook search folder and then perform your search in that folder.

That's running awfully close to the definition of a kludge, but it works.
Thanks!
