Why isn't spam going to junk mail folder

I am using Outlook 2003. I have rules set up so if 'Spam' is in the topic, it
should be moved to junk mail folder. It does work occationally but it is not
doing this most of the time. It just stays in Inbox. Any idea what the
problem could be?

Question the program that is adding "spam" to the subject. It is not an Outlook option.

Milly, some ISPs have been adding the word SPAM to the Subject line.

My web server is putting Spam in the topic.
I don't see how anyone answered my question.
Again, I set up a rule with any word that has 'Spam' in the topic to go to
Junk mail folder.
Anyone know why this isn't working? This used to work on my other PC.

Post the EXACT rule.

Apply this rule after the message arrives
with [Spam] or 'Spam' in the subject
and on this machine only
move to the junk E-mail folder

You need to add the rule "stop processing more rules".
That lets Outlook know that action is complete for that item.

I don't see where to do that. Is this 'Add a new rule'. If so, what
template?

It's on the second or third screen of the Rules Wizard, the last
item under "What do you want to do with the message?"

I do not have a Rules Wizard. All I have is Rules and Alerts. It does not
appear under the e-mail rules tab. I am using Outlook 2003.

Sorry, I have Outlook 2007. Someone who has Outlook 2003 will have to
advise you.

Try the "stop processing" action and remove the "[spam]" condition because
the "spam" condition subsumes it.

That IS the Rules WIzard.
It does not appear under the e-mail rules tab.

Sure it does. Click Tools>Rules and Alerts. Select the rule you've been
describing and click Change Rule>Edit Rule Settings. Click Next. The "stop
processing more rules" action will be in the list that you see, probably
toward the bottom.
