Gmail IMAP spam on Outlook

The Outlook junk filter puts suspected junk into Junk E-mail folder. I was
informed that I should drag these to the Spam directory in the [Google
Mail] folder. Is this right as seem to keep coming back. Why?

You can certainly drag them to the Spam folder, but all that does is put
them in the folder. It doesn't adjust any spam filtering.

The Spam folder in Gmail is where Gmail learns what messages are spam
and modifies its spam filters accordingly. Also, by removing messages
from the Spam folder Gmail learns what you consider not to be spam and
modifies its spam filters accordingly.
