I have installed 3 512 rams in the motherboard but windows says i have only
1024. someother applications say i have 1512. just wondering if there is a
reason windows would say i have only 1024 and which do i believe. Just
switched motherboards and dont know if that is the problem. TSDaddyo

info it shows 1024. ty for this info it is much appreciated

Hi,

Make sure your RAM sticks are installed correctly. 3X512 = 1536MBs. Do you
have a RAM test? Is your RAM compatible with your motherboard?

is your motherboard a "dual-channel ram" design? if so you must install
ram sticks in PAIRS. on these types of systems there usually are four ram
sockets, w/ two in one color and the other two in a different color. You
install the pairs in the same-colored sockets (usually 1+3 and 2+4). Many
makers sell "matched pairs" to ensure they will work together. And if you
install all four, they MUST be exactly the same type, and even then they
may not actually work right at full speed - what you really want is a
"matched quad" set of sticks, hard to find.

It is absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the manufacturer's
web site for specific instructions and compatibility requirements.

If you cannot lay your hands upon the computer's manual and the
manufacturer doesn't provide a support web site, you can use these
utilities to help determine the correct type of RAM needed:

Also, Crucial Memory's web site (www.crucial.com) has a database
to help to find the right RAM for your specific make and model
computer and/or motherboard.
