why is my power point presentation asking for a password?

i've spent 6 weeks creating a power point presentation for my granddaughter.
Now when I try to open it, it asks for a password. The help instructed me to
open the presentation and change/ remove the password. When I go into tools,
security, there is nothing listed in the boxes. First question is: how do I
open it, if the password that I type in is not the "correct" one? How do you
remove/change a password if nothing shows???? I am really confused and
frustrated. Can someone help?
