Password for locking Powerpoint presentation

how do I lock a PowerPoint presentation (version is 2003 and 2007) to
read-onl for others but I will have access via password to modify the
presentation?

You can add a modify password when you save as. It's in the Tools
dropdown<General in 2007 and I think in 2003 it may be in a different section
and also in Tools > Options > Security

Note it's not super secure but will prevent the majority of users changing
things
