Can't open a power point presentation

Someone sent me a Power Point presentation and I can't open it on my laptop.
Whenever I try, I get a request for a password -- that I don't have and no
one else does either. I'm using Power Point 2003 w/SP2. On my desktop the
Password request has a check box that allows for opening in "Read Only" mode
and the presentation opens. On the laptop there is no "read only" box.

I can't even tell if the password issue is with Power Point or the
presentation. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What version of PowerPoint do you have on the laptop? PPT2003 SP2 also?

What exactly do you see when you attempt to open this presentation on the
laptop? Messages of any sort?

On my desktop, PPT2003 SP2 I don't have a checkbox for opening in Read Only
mode; I do have a *button* for that. Same with you?
