Hi all. I am running WinXP Home on my desktop computer and have set
up a home network that allows me to access my laptop computer and the
internet (via cable modem). My notebook computer is running WinXP Pro.
When both computers are on the network icon on my laptop only flashes when
I am connecting to the internet or transferring files. The network icon on
my desktop computer is always flashing, even when I am not on the web or
transferring files. To me, this would indicate that some program on my
computer is either accessing the web or someone on the web is trying to
hack into my desktop computer. Is there a way for me to find out what is
causing this network traffic on my desktop and which program (if any) is
the culprit. It could just be some of my program trying to auto-update
themselves BUT I would also expect the same behavior on my laptop because
they are running mostly the same programs.
Any tips would be appreciated,
Dave
