Why is email made in Frontpage look different?

We created an html page in FrontPage which we use as an email we send out.
It looks great, it is just on one page.

But.... when we send it out it looks formatted differently if it is sent to
a Yahoo vs. Hotmail, vs. another account. For example there is a bulleted
list and with Yahoo the title covers the first bullet, whereas on Hotmail the
distance between the bullets is longer then we want.

Why is this happening? How do we do a simple page so that it looks the same
to all readers? Are there any guides to how to do this? Any help is
appreciated.

The only way to make it look identical in all Email readers is to send it as a PDF attachment
- or a link to a web page on your site is even better

Thanks for replying Stefan! Is this specific to FP? The reason I ask is I
get lots of HTML type emails from banks, retailers, etc... and they always
look ok in my reader, regardless if the reader is yahoo mail, outlook,
Goldmine, etc... But in the one we made in FP, it looks fine on FP but looks
slightly different in each email reader. I feel like there is something the
big guys know that I am not doing....

One example is that in yahoo the email has no background color... in another
the spacing between bulleted items looks really large...

The issue most likely is not FP, but more like your email
client. I know OE really can butcher up stationary.

How do the banks (etc) do it? Most likely they are not using
an email client; rather, they use a 'form letter' script
that assembles the email, and pulls the name & other info
from a database

How do the banks (etc) do it? Most likely they are not using
an email client; rather, they use a 'form letter' script
that assembles the email, and pulls the name & other info
from a database

And most likely they have a developer who spent some time studying
HTML and created a look backed by a technical design that displays
similarly in many different browsers/email programs.
