Why email is double spaced

I just started using Outlook 2002 as my email client and MS Word as m
text editor. When I compose and send email, it gets to the destinatio
double spaced. Why is that?

I'd apreciate some help in correcting this. Thank you

Double spaces between words or between sentences ?

The message format is set to HTML.

The double spacing is between lines

Because the formatting is set to HTML, a carriage return is see
differently. Using Shift-Enter instead will give you a line break tha
is single spaced
