Why don't my toolbar customizations stay?

I am simply adding the sub and superscript icons to the format toolbar, yet
when I close word and begin a new document, I have to add them again. I
would also like to add macros in and have them always appear. I've read
through the help topics and none of them say anything about saving changes
other than the new Office 2003 is "smart" in that it recognizes the ones you
use most often. I'm sorry but to me that is just "dumb" if I can't tell it
which ones I want on the toolbar.

Hello Chad:

In order to keep customizations on your toolbars, you should go to Tools |
Options and select Prompt to Save Normal Template. Then, once you have made
your changes, when you exit Word a dialog box will ask you if you want to
save your normal template. Tell it yes. I hope this has been helpful to you.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat 7? If so, see the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.
