Why does Vista keep trying to fix my flash drives?

It seems that every flash drive or SD card that I plug into my computer isn't
quite good enough for Vista--it always asks me whether I want to scan and fix
before I use it. I always answer "no" because I don't want to lose the files
and Vista seems to be perfectly happy to copy them off without the scan &
fix. Is this a new feature of Vista and can it be disabled? Is it really
the case that all of my removable storage is corrupted?

Utter crap. I swap my flash drive between an XP and a Vista computer with no
probs.

Do you actually have a useful suggestion as to the cause, or do you just
assume the info provided is not correct because you don't have the specific
problem?
It is not utter crap, the scenario provided can cause the OP's problem, I've
run into it myself, so rather than bashing peoples replies, perhaps you
should spend the time getting a clue as to what your talking about so you
don't look like an unknowledgeable troll.

Well, this is good for you. But...

I too get the Scan and Fix dialog whenever I pop in my camera, ipod ir
thumbdrive. I tried scanning and fixing the ipod, but it still comes
up with that warning each time. What I would like is the option to not
have the dialog come up. It gets quite tedious.
