why does my outlook 2003 keep starting in safe mode?

since the new install of outlook 2003 i am promted to start in safe mode.i
can operate in safe mode but i am unsure of the long term affects. i have
checked the erro report but im not sure im reading it correctly.

Can you post the error please? It's difficult to make any sort of assumption
if there is little or no information to go on.

Thanks for responding so quickly. The help desk guy here at my office has
been no help.

If this is not what you need I can certainly look a bit deeper.

Have a look in your event viewer (application portion) and look for Outlook
errors and their corresponding event numbers and sources.

Sorry, couldn't reply for a while.

The error follows:

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6353.0, stamp 408f2937,
faulting module mso.dll, version 11.0.6408.0, stamp 416add54, debug? 0, fault
address 0x00373ea0.

The next error just says that safe mode was accepted.

In case you ask the help desk guy here has reinstalled Outlook and updated
several or more times, to no avail. And it only happened after the upgrade
form 2002 (methinks) to 2003.

Hi Jimmy
That's the same error you posted earlier. If you're using Windows NT or
later there is an event viewer you can access for system messages including
errors.
Go to Start, Run, and type in: eventvwr and then hit enter. Go to the
application events and look for errors there. Doubleclick the errors and note
the event number and source.

I'm running WXP and I got the info that I previously posted from Event
Viewer. Most of it was the same except "Faulting application outlook.exe". I
guess I just need to include more info. The info you're asking is:

Get your office installation disk, click on setup, then check that box down
at the bottom. Then instead of just re-installling the main programs click on
the + signs by each program, break them all the way down. Any component that
does not have a yellow exclamation point next to it did not install. You will
have to install each of those separately. You have to go thru the above steps
most of the time for each component. That is for all the programs, not just
outlook, especially for word. That visual basic item in word is needed for
outllook. All the program components work with Outlook, so you have to make
sure each component has been installed.

Restart your computer, then open Outlook, you may still get the Safe Mode
error. If you have done all the above then open up Outlook and click on the
Help menu, click Detect and Repair and let the program do it's job. It worked
for me. I spent lots of my cell minutes talking to microsoft and then Dell. I
do want to thank Kevin from Dell for trying his best to figure out what was
wrong. The steps he took me through helped me find my own way.

As you didn't quote any post, or reply to the original thread, your post is
a COMPLETE waste of time, as no-one here has a clue as to the original
problem or what other responses were made to it.

My Outlook start in Safe Mode". It is not necessary to repeat the main post.
It is just taking up space to repeat a main thread. If anyone is doing a
search for "Outlook Safe Mode" as I did you would get the topic of the main
thread, not the replys. So this was not a waste of space.

Don't forget to backup your address books and calendar if you have lots of
dates marked before you perform the procedure I posted above because Outlook
will be completely re-installed. Open Outlook, click File, click
Import/Export, click Export a File, click Comma seperated Values(Window),
Click Contacts, then save document into a file, I recommend if it does not
already show use Browse button and have the file saved to Desktop. It will
save as an excel file with a CSV extension. You can do the same with calendar
or anything else you need to backup out of Outlook. After you have fixed your
Outlook, click File, Import/Export, click import from another program and
file, click comma separated values(windows), browse and find your file on
Desktop and import.

Also when you fixed the safe mode problem and it re-installed your Outlook
you lose your account setting, so you need to look up your Account settings
before hand and either write them down or use Alt+Prt Scr and paste a copy
into a word document and save. Also you need to remember your login name and
password. For me it has been so long since I had to remember that since my
computer automatically logs in I had forgotten and had to call my cable
company who then told me my user name and reset my password. After I set
everything up I then went and changed my password. I hope this helps

You are not posting to a "forum" - you are using a web interface to a global

Don't forget to backup your address books

Since Outlook doesn't have an address book that contains any information,
what would be the point? To properly back up Outlook data (mail, calendar,
contacts, notes, etc.) takes nothing harder than making a copy of the PST.
