Why does my Document Template automatically change?

I am using Word 2003 SP2 on Windows XP and have a suite of documents using a
common template called "Functional Specs.dot". Lets say this template is in
area A.

I have a another suite of documents also using a common template called
"Functional Specs.dot" in Area B.

In both cases 'Automatically update document styles' is not ticked.

The File Location for User Templates is Area B.

My question is, when I open a document in Area A, the Document Template
points to 'Functional Spec.dot' in Area B. I have tried changing the location
of the document template to Area A and then saving the document but it always
reverts back to Area B. It is though, Word tries to find the template using
the File Location for User Templates, whereas I though Word would
specifically use the path specified in Templates and
Add-ins>Templates>Document template.

So, (just to confirm) is the solution to rename 'Functional Spec.dot', in
area A to (say) 'Functional Spec - A.dot', and to 'Functional Spec - B.dot'
in area B.

Trying out the above appears to work.
