Mine shows up as a DVD\CD-ROM. ROM=read only memory. I am
not sure why you want it displayed as CD-RW which is CD
Rewritable. This simply mean a disk can be used over and
over. The drive is a Read Only Memory. This doesn't mean I
am restricted to using just DVD's or CD-RW or CD-R I can
use all three. Good luck.
.

The OP wants his drive to recognized as a recordable
device, you moron. A CD-ROM drive has no write capability.
As its name suggests, and as you blindly pointed out, it
is a read-only device.
