Why does Messenger 4.7 auto launch and sign-in when in Outlook?

When using Outlook, sometimes (not always) msn messenger 4.7 is launched and
signed in, as noticed in system tray. When I check to remove this program,
only version 7 is listed, which I have installed.

I don't want messenger to launch without my explicit action.
 
Is it Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger? Do you have both versions
installed on your machine? Look for MSMSGS.EXE and/or MSNMSGR.EXE
