Why does it keep crashing?

I'm using XP home edition, and for the past few days, I've had problem
getting it to start up.

Sometimes, it gets to the first screen that shows the temparatures et
and won't go any further.

Somes times it comes to a screen that says something about - oops, m
mind has gone blank- a problem anyway, and I can start in safe mode
safe mode with command prompt, use last know good configuration o
start windows normally.

Once it starts up, I've updated and run my virus scanner, it foun
nothing.

I have been using mozilla firefox to browse the internet today, an
sometimes, for seemingly no apparant reason, it freezes the whole P
and I need to reboot.

Two problems here, anyone know what to do about either of them

try to find out if your computer's internal ventilators work well, or if
there is dirt inside the CPU cooler. It sounds as if probably there is a
temperature problem.

That sounds like an opening screen produced by the computer's BIOS
during the Power On Self Test. If so then that indicates a hardware
related problem of some kind and the computer probably needs to be
taken to a hardware repair technician

My problem solving skills do not include clairvoyance - the best I can
do without the actual *verbatim* text of the error message is to refer
you to the Microsoft Knowledge Base. There are tens of thousands (at
least) of different articles that deal with problems. Somewhere in
there may be the solution.

What about spyware? Do you use anything to prevent or remove this?

I was having about the same problem and it turned out to be a MB going bad.
After changing the MB all is well.
