Why does "Delete Block?" appear when deleting words?

I used to be able to highlight text and delete just by hitting the delete
key. Now when I do this, an alert comes up asking me if I want to "Delete
Block?", and I cannot figure out how to disable this extra step. No help can
be found in the Help menu for any of this, at least not that I could find in
30 minutes of searching.

Have I turned something on by accident? How do I turn this off?

Select Tools > options > General tab and deselect "Help for WordPerfect
users" and "Navigation keys for WordPerfect users". Click OK.
