Excel or Word? The configuration process runs each time I try to open a
document or file.

Are you using Office 2003 and Office 2007 on the same machine? If so, see the
"Hacking the Registry" section at
http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm.

If the above doesn't apply, try repairing the installation that you do have.
