Why do two IP addresses don't work together?

Hello
Why do two IP addresses work one at a time, but don't work together? I add a
second IP address in the "Advanced TCP/IP settings". Our network
administrator said that adding the second IP address should enable both
addresses.

Hi.

1 NIC can only use 1 IP at the time, you can set so the nic have an alternate IP if it can´t contact dhcp server etc. But there is only 1 active IP-address on each nic.
