Hi,

I am running outlook (version from office xp) with xp pro sp2. I have 4
email accts with 4 different IPs.

Why do sends OFTEN fail and it have to close and reopen outlook and resend
to get the files to be sent?

Thanks!

Do you receive any errors when the messages fail to send? When you say
"different IPs" do you mean different SMTP servers?

I will need to capture the error messages on my home system and repost here.
Yes, I meant to say different ISPs or put another way, different SMTP servers.

Thanks.

Many, many reasons. Without any symptoms from you, it's impossible to tell.

Here are some sample messages. I often get them from all 4 mail servers.
Then I close and reopen outlook and things are fine until the next time I hit
send/receive.
This is very time consuming and frustrating. I am running outlook 2002
(office xp).
Task 'pop.yyyy.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) :
'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP)
server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Task 'mail.zzzz.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) :
'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP)
server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I think its some problem on my end, because I am using 4 different mail
servers, and I dont think the servers would be having problems simultaneously.

Are all accounts in the same send/receive group? Have you tried increating
the server timeout values on the Advanced tab of the account properties
pages? Have you tried putting them in separate send/receive groups and
specifying difference send/receive interva;s for each group? It may also be
that you've reached the network connection limit for your Windows
configuration. When multiple accounts are in a send/receive group, Outlook
will attempt to connect to all of them simultaneously, possibly exceeding
the number of network connections your Windows allows.

I will have to check help when I get home about send/receive groups. I have
never heard of them. I will also need to find out how to determine the
network connection limits for my system.
I am just a home user of Outlook. I am not an administrator.

Thanks Brian.
