Why do movies show in powerpoint show on one computer and not anot

Description of problem:
I copied my powerpoints (12) and movie clips (4) to a memory stick.
I followed all the instructions as suggested on inserting a movie clip into
a powerpoint.
I converted the powerpoints to powerpoint shows and tested each show and
opened each movie.
Some powerpoints had 2 of the movies, other powerpoints had 3 of the movies.
I gave the memory stick to others at work, a couple of colleagues could open
all the movies, while a couple of other colleagues could not open 2 of the
movies in any of the powerpoints.

I have deleted the troublesome movies and have gone to a computer where they
didn't work and inserted them into powerpoint on that computer. Still didn't
work.

I am tearing my hair out as these training resources should have been burnt
to disc and distributed last week.

I would appreciate any suggestions without having to purchase new software.

Which file format do those movies have? WMV works best in Powerpoint on a
PC, some MPGs and AVIs can cause problems.

Best regards,
Ute
