Why do messages not use the right email account when replying?

I have several email accounts set up in Outlook 2003, with one of them being
the default account. When I receive a message to any of my accounts, and hit
reply, Outlook always uses the same account, but not the default account or
necessarily the one the message was sent to, to reply. I then have to change
the reply account every time.

For example, I have accounts A, B, C, D with A being the default account.

I receive an email on Account A (the default account) and hit reply.
Outlook uses account B to reply.

If I receive an email on Account B, C or D, Outlook still uses account B to
reply.

I would like Outlook to either use the account the message was sent to, to
do the replying, or at least to just use the default account every time!
Thanks!

But when you manually select the account does it actually use that account
or does it still uses B?
Do you have SP2 installed?

are these in a catchall mailbox? Outlook should reply using the account that
downloaded it.

Yes, if I manually select the account it uses that account, and yes, I do
have SP2 (Windows XP and Outlook 2003) installed; I keep my computer current
with all updates. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by a catchall mailbox...I have one inbox that 2 of
the accounts download to; one account I don't receive regularly; and the last
account has a folder that I have a rule setup to move new messages into when
received. I do wish Outlook would reply using the account that downloaded
it! Thanks!
