Why do linked excel charts resize in powerpoint?

I have multiple excel charts that are sized with window. I copy, paste
special, and link them in powerpoint. I format object to resize them,
leaving lock aspect ratio on. I've tried selecting and deselecting "Relative
to original picture." Regardless, if I update links while the source
document is closed or not full screen, the chart in powerpoint resizes and
loses the aspect ratio. Please help!! Thanks.

What PPT is displaying in PPT is a picture of the source chart which
is still in Excel at the size you don't want. That's only one of many
reasons I stopped relying on Paste Linking from Excel. Best way around
it if you need to use linking is to create the chart at the right size
on a Custom size Chart Sheet. Then when it updates it will not change
size.

Thank you for your reply, Brian. Curious, if you have stopped relying on
Paste Link, what do you do?
