our workflow generally involves creating data / chart files in excel and then
placing linked charts into powerpoint. usually, this poses no problems.

today, i ran into a strange issue. i am creating an 11x17 sized
presentation linking to charts sized at 11x17 in excel. powerpoint actually
truncates the chart so only an 8.5x11 portion of the chart is visible in
excel. is there a workaround?

if i paste the chart directly into powerpoint, it displays fine, but then
the data becomes embedded in the presentation. this is not desirable to us
from a maintenance perspective. your help is appreciated.

more information: it appears this is happening only on my machine; we
couldn't replicate the issue on a different PC.

Hi

Are the 2 machines running the same OS? Also, are you using copy -> paste
special -> paste link or some other method?

yes; both machines are running XP. to reproduce the error:

1) create an xy scatter chart in excel
2) move it to its own 'chart' type worksheet
3) use page setup to resize the chart to 11x17
4) open powerpoint
5) use page setup to change the slide size to 11x17 (i used custom 10x16)
6) copy the excel chart
7) paste special -> link into powerpoint
8) note that the chart is truncated

thanks for your help.
