Why do I have to Replug-in mouse to restore horizontal scroll on b

I have replaced my optical wheel mouse with an Acrox one which works fine but
if I power down then restart the next day I then have to pull the PS2 plug
out and push it straight back in to restore the horizontal movement.
I cannot get a driver update or anything so why is Windows XPpro unable to
restore the correct driver control on boot but requires me to unplug it an
plug it back in just to be able to log in?
I have no idea how to fix this as I've been to Acrox for a better driver but
get the driver I already have and to Windows update but it doesn't care.
I also have a USB web-cam which it sometimes recognizes but generally takes
2-3 unplug, wait & plug back in for it to be recognized again.
Any knowledgeable advice would be appreciated. lol

You obviously have a loud obnoxious mouth and cannot read EM!
I did state quite clearly " Any knowledgeable advice would be appreciated."
and you have posted neither of those so stop wasting our time and go play
with yourself somewhere else!

I have no solution to your problem, just a caution: I've been playing
with computers for nearly 20 years now and I've always been aware of
the caution regarding plugging/unplugging (hot-plugging) a PS2
connector with power on.

If your motherboard is a newer one, you're probably safe. If it's an
old one, you take the chance of blowing the board.

Hi Uncle Grumpy thanks for also making me aware of the caution regarding
plugging/unplugging (hot-plugging) a PS2 connector with power on. But how
else could/should I do it? When I hot-plug the mouse the pins hardly even
leave the holes and I have yet to load a user but turning it off to
unplug/plug defeats the purpose really as it would just do the same weird
thing. :(
This is why I am asking for help. Windows is so persnickety it's not funny!
My motherboard is a genuine Pentium4 478 socket 1.6Ghz.
Hmmmm I wonder if it would hapopen with Linux too? Maybe I should take the
mouse back as faulty?!

Hi Ron Badour,

thanks for that suggestion and as the mouse never came with a USB connection
I think it's a warranty replacement job that may require a USB»PS2
connection. I got the PS2 style as my CPU is so old (6 years) that it only
has 2 USB 1.1 ports and I need them for my webcam, digital camera and
Pendisk. :(

I have many USB to PS2 adaptors but none of the vice versa ones, if there
actually are any!
I have heard of backward compatibility but not forward and saw nothing when
I just did a google search either.
Archaic technology compatibility problems once again encountered in the
future today by the DOSrelic!

Try another PS2 mouse or if you have an adapter, plug the mouse in a USB
port.
