Why do I get this?

The explanation:

You or your kid browsed the web and hit an innocently looking site set up by
criminals. They may actually be here among the trolls roaming this place.
They see how their malware works, take an opportunity to confuse you,
redirect you to another malware because they have a few outlets.

To get rid of the scum, download and install Spybot Search & Destroy. It is
free for individuals but they would appreciate a donation. Donations are not
their only source of income. They sell the application to corporations. I
think MS has never officially recommended it.

Run it and you will be surprised what you will find. Immunize your system
against future attacks. After that if your kid goes there they will be
powerless.

There are other things you may employ. They will be in my next post.

You can check this. It is a rare and minor problem:

I am also adding some of my recent collection I've made for myself. I will
keep improving it conceptually and in content.

My policy is not to use any 3-rd party antivirus except Spybot S&D. Windows
Vista offers sufficient protection against malicious software writers some
of them I am sure watch this forum very carefully.

Download Microsoft Windows Baseline Security Analyzer. It is Beta 2.1 for
Vista and I think it is safe to download. Run it.
<http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...AF-9DBE-4DCE-889E-ECF997EB18E9&displaylang=en>
It will give you all your vulnerabilities, especially in your firewall
settings. You should read the report and if it suggests any changes, you
should consider them.
Your Windows firewall setting will be analyzed.

Download Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830). It
will want to run upon install. Choose the FULL scan although it may give you
a threatening message that it might take a few hours. It will scan your
entire computer in about half an hour or less if you do not have a lot of
stuff in it.

Some reassuring information: Malicious Software Removal Tool
<http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx>
The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool helps remove specific,
prevalent malicious software from computers that are running Windows Vista,
Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890830

You can also go to Protection Center (Microsoft)
<http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/center/howsafe.htm?s_cid=mscom_msrt>
and click "Protection Scan." There will be a dropdown menu and a button:
"Launch Full Scan or Vista." You can do it if you wish.

Download and install Spybot Search & Destroy, a marvelous piece of software
which is free for individuals but corporations pay fees. You may be asked
for donations but it is up to you. It is very up to date and every week you
will have to download new updates, sometimes even more often. You should
check for updates every time you run it. It will give you all su*kers
leached into your registry and ask you if you wanted to remove them. Many of
them have masqueraded themselves under MS Windows names like
Windows.something. Do not hesitate to kill them all. You can trust SB S&D.

It also allows you to IMMUNIZE your system. It means that when you go to a
website and they try to download some kind of a Trojan to you SB S&D will
either kill it silently, or ask you if you want to do it or will kill it and
give you a notice. It is better to let it kill them all in silence.

Listen to Mark Russinovich's (MS) webcast: Advanced Malware Cleaning

"My policy is not to use any 3-rd party antivirus except Spybot S&D. "

It is NOT an Anti-virus, you cockhead!
I told you to get out of here.

You are just a Linux Troll.
You don't have Vista at home; it is only supplied at your work place!

I suggest you run it, as*shole. Watch carefully the progress bar and the
rolling list of malware being checked. When you see *antivirus* you may gulp
another whisky.

I suggest you run it, as*shole and IDIOT. Watch carefully the progress bar
and the
rolling list of malware being checked. Put on your glasses. When you see
*ANTIVIRUS* you may gulp another whisky if you are not completely drunk yet.

I have run it many times on clients computers, FAG.

Learn how to use a computer before giving advice, you arsewipe!!

You use Linux 90% of the time, arsewipe.

We have you configured to a tee!
Go and cry on your boyfriends shoulder; tsk, tsk!!

You bottom(lol) lip is pouting; hahaha.

AlexB,

#01-----Spybot S&D is NOT an AV application and WILL NOT protect you
against viruses. In addition, it is NOT safe to delete everything it finds
unless you want to also delete legitimate files and processes. Spybot S&D can
give false positives, just like any other security application. It is up to
the individual user to determine if any "hits" are legitimate.

#02-----For you to mislabel Spybot S&D and give this inaccurate advice
borders on misfeasance and malfeasance. You should research any opinions or
advice you give in the future, prior to submitting such opinions or advice,
to ascertain whether or not you are correct in your assessments.

Every time I log onto the Internet the following comes up.

It is something that (they) want you to buy.
It says I have no Spyware, I have the Trend package.
I can not seem to get rid of it @*%&*

You've got a malware infection. It's now trying to convince you to download
further rogue security software, and you've obviously called the bluff.

Take a look at Malke's general removal steps in this thread:

If you need any further help, I suggest you search or post again in the
Vista Security newsgroup (microsoft.public.windows.vista.security). The
experts over there may be able to give you specific help.

I challenge you to present a few grains of "proof" to this categorical
opinion. Specific facts my dear! I am sure you've got plenty of them since
you know the word "research."

It seems to be a favorate tactic of malware writers to scare people with
unfounded accusations.

AlexB doesn't really know the difference between antivirus and anti malware
applications and isn't interested in learning about such minor details.
I made a comment last week about him/her calling Spybot S&D an anti virus
app and he/she went on a rant and accused me of being hostile, paranoid and
inattentive. Everything he/she has posted since then has deteriorated into
rambling inconsistent discussions of subjects that are obviously beyond
his/her mental ability. Most of his/her advice follows the pattern of
AndrewE, except he rambles more, apparently fixated on the "brilliance" of
his own words.

Yep, Murphy's Law, seeing is believing! Wasn't it shocking?

I am sure you run tons of you stuff on your unsuspected "clients" computers
that they remove with Spybot Search & Destroy.

You are becoming incoherent. I also noticed that you are borrowing some gems
from the famous Frank's word selection. Must have run out of your own.

AlexB,

You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, however incorrect it
may be. The people who read these forums are free to take the advice of
whomever they choose. It is up to the OP to choose whose advice to take and
whom to believe. I can't make that decision for them.

I don't need to provide any facts regarding my statements. It is easy
to discern that Spybot S&D is NOT an AV program simply by going to the
website and reading the description of the product. You can label cookies,
spyware and adware as "malware" if you wish but that doesn't make Spybot S&D
an antivirus application. True malware, in my opinion, consists of viruses,
trojans, worms and rootkits. I consider anything else as only inconvenient or
annoying. Of course, many people will disagree with this statement.

Personally, I think Spybot S&D and AdAware are old news. They have
fallen behind the times. They protect you against cookies, adware and
spyware. I used both applications for years but removed them from my systems
more than a year ago. They are good, free applications but I have no need for
them because I don't allow third party cookies, keyloggers, mouse monitors or
adware access to my computers.

Furthermore, Spybot S&D can cause problems with IE functionality, IE
settings and your hostfile if not configured properly. Those who know how to
use Spybot S&D will not have these problems.

newsgroup.

Hey bill, alexB started abusing me; get the facts right.
