why can't messages be stored out of inbox?

Where are my messages going after I move them to separate folders out of my
inbox? I have lost every email that I've tried to move from my inbox to a
separate storage folder. Where the %#@ are they?
Have they been deleted?

Try clicking on the separate folders one at a time, and for each folder,
then
click on View, then Current View, then Show All Messages. Some of the
messages you have already read will then not be hidden any more.
