Why can't I open a Word 2002 file in Word 2003?

I've got a file which was created on my computer here at work, which runs
Word 2003. I e-mailed the file to another computer at a community that we
work for, running an earlier version of Word - I believe it's Word 2002 but
can't verify that right now. I opened and edited the file there with no
problems and saved it. I then e-mailed it back so that my copy here would
match. When I try to open the file now, I get an error stating that "Word
experienced an error trying to open the file". I had a co-worker try on her
computer (also running Word 2003) with the same error. Thinking the file may
have gotten corrupted in the e-mail transfer, I copied it on a floppy and
brought it over manually earlier this week. I still can't open the file
(same error), but another co-worker who is running Word 2002 can open it
perfectly fine.

Help! Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Deb

The document needs a Maggie: cut and paste everything except the last
para mark in each section to a new doc.
