Why can't I import my MPEg4 file?

I keep on getting the following error message!

C:\Documents and Settings\Gary\My Documents\My Videos\Melville Castle.mpg
could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from
 
MM works best with avi files, look for a convertor on google.
