why can i only send new e-mail?

My problem with Outlook 2003 SP1 is that only newly created e-mail items are
sent from the outbox - they are the only ones that appear in italics in the
outbox after you click "Save and Send". Exisiting e-mails (ones I reply to,
forward, or edit and try to re-send) and new meeting invitations are not
italicized and are not sent. As best as I can tell, this problem began with
my recent installation of SP1 for Office 2003. I use Norton Internet
Security 2004 with e-mail scanning turned on.
 
I don't know about 2003, but in other versions, you have to click the Send
button after opening the email again - just closing and saving will leave it
sitting in the outbox.
 
Paul, thanx much, but clicking the send button again is not helping, it just
sits in the outbox unitalicized.
