why can i not send attachments from my outlook account?

For a couple of days now I have been completely unable to send attachments
with my e mails - I seem to be able to receive e mails (to a certain extent -
some people have reported mails bouncing back) and I can send e mails with no
attchments without any problem.

BT provide my broadband but my e mail provider is a separate company. I have
checked with them and they can detect no problems at all. They even set up a
test account their end which can send attachments perfectly.

I am using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. There bizarre thing about this
problem is that i do not get any error messages - the messgae just stays in
the outbox and does not get sent.

Any suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Thanks in advance

In addition to Brian's suggestion, some common causes for this are
Virus/Spam scanners that examine outgoing mail, personal firewalls, certain
Lynksys routers, and a misconfigured router or device between the user and
their mail provider:

Great, I now now what the problem(s) is / are.

I get the following two error messages:

1. Task 'mail.scotland-malawipartnership.org - Sending' reported error
(0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the
sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your
server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' (This occurs every
time)

2. I also get an error message including the code 0x800CCC0B - although not
every time.

Further advice would be fantastic. Cheers.

Make sure your disable any add-ins and scanners, as Hal suggests. Increase
the server timeout value on the Advanced tab of the account properties.
Make sure your firewall is allowing outbound traffic on the port your SMTP
server requires.
