Why are question marks appearing in new emails?

Whenever I receive messages from a particular colleague, her emails come
through with question marks added at the end of each sentence. This is not
visible on her end at all, and when I "reply" they disappear. So it only
appears in my reading pane. Colleague is on a MAC and I am on PC, but that
has never made a difference before.
I use Outlook 2003.

Thanks in advance

If it is only from her it is likely that there is something wrong on her
end; probably encoding.
