Why are larger messages sent continuously?

Whenever I try to send a message over approx. 300 kb it remains in the Outbox
and is sent repeatedly.
How can I stop this?

This usually occurs when the sending process is interrupted before it is
complete due to faulty or slow connection. Because the sending process was
not completed it will keep trying to send the message.

To stop this you can either reduce the file size or improve your internet
connection speed/quality.

Or disable e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program.

The biggest cause of this is scanning your email with an antivirus scanner.
Uninstall your antivirus software and then reinstall it without the mail
scanning feature.
