Why am I unable to type on a word or excel document?

I know it's not my keyboard since I can type on notepad or write a message on
hotmail. I've reinstalled the software but that did not do anything. Your
suggestions will be much appreciated.
 
Hi tony-

Just a guess without more specific details, but it sound like you're using a
Test Drive (trial) version of Office which has expired.

If that isn't the case, post back with version info and any other detail
about the problem.
